Racine Yacht Club Racing

Racing in RYC has a long tradition of quality, fun, fair racing. Along with the standard Wednesday Night and weekend racing, there are several special events during the year.

The HOOK Race is a great alternative to the Chicago to Mackinaw Race as it keeps you closer to shore and a great value.  This is a great venue for those who want to get out and do a long distance sail without breaking the bank.

Also, Racine Yacht Club is the home of the Racine Regatta.  This is a two day regatta on a weekend in August.  If you want to have great competition and a great party, this is the place for you!

Not into racing around the buoys every Wednesday night? Then we may still have something for you. Our Pursuit Series runs throughout the summer with one race a month that alternate between a Saturday or a Sunday. These are short distance races that are run using a pursuit format. Pursuit races make handicap corrections based on the distance of the race and apply those corrections to each boats start time. With this format, start times are staggered based on the boats handicap. This allows each boat to know where they stand in the competition at all times. If you pass a boat, you are now ahead of them and the first boat to finish is the winner.

RYC has also been host to many North American and National Events including the Nacra North Americans and Cat Fight, the S2 7.9 Class Championships, T10 Nationals, and the Ultimate 20 North Americans.

If you are interested in any of our racing opportunities, make sure you check out the Schedule and Documents page for more information.
